Ottawa.


Mer Bleue Bog


Located in the southeastern sector of Canada’s Capital Greenbelt, Mer Bleue conservation
area covers 3,500-hectares and provides a unique opportunity to experience and explore a
northern boreal landscape. It's about 7,700 years old, and is home to many species of rare
plants, birds and wildlife. It features more than 20 kilometres of trails and is a simply
stunning area for hiking. Access to all its trails is free.


Mud Lake


Mud Lake is one of the most important natural habitats in the urban area of the National
Capital Region. It is designated as a “significant wetland and an Area of Natural and
Scientific Interest by the Government of Ontario.” This isn't your typical hiking area. Mud
Lake is fragile, so it's important to observe a few rules as a visitor.
● Dogs and other pets aren't allowed at Mud Lake.
● Cycling isn't allowed.
● Don't feed animals you encounter.
● Stay on the official trails. There is trail erosion here.
● Respect plant and animal life here.


Pinhey Forest


Pinhey Forest is located in the southwest end of Ottawa. It's in an area that's home to the
largest parcels of quality farmland in Canada’s Capital Region. The forest features 6.4
kilometres of nature trails which are open for hiking year-round with a delightful mix of long
and short loop trails to discover. It's also an important conservation area with Ottawa’s only
inland sand dune complex.
